The third Monday of January has been designated as a time to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his message of peace. In the words of his wife, Coretta Scott King, “No other day of the year brings so many peoples from different cultural backgrounds together in such a vibrant spirit of brother and sisterhood. Whether you are African-American, Hispanic or Native American, whether you are Caucasian or Asian-American, you are part of the great dream [he] had for America.”
This holiday weekend, our community offers a host of opportunities to come together the way Dr. King intended through memorials, parades, retrospectives and other cultural activities. Join with friends and family to commemorate his inspirational vision.
