Indian Wells

Just minutes away from Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley, lies the spectacular desert playground known as Indian Wells. Offering stunning views of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountains and year-round warm weather, this 15 square mile desert oasis is defined by its fine luxury resorts, full-service spas, world-class golf, championship tennis and more. Held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden stadium every March, the city hosts the internationally acclaimed Indian Wells Masters tennis tournament—BNP Paribas Open—the largest professional two-week combined ATP and WTA Tour tennis tournament.

Home to nearly 5,000, expect to find a variety of exceptional residences including private country club estates, mid-century modern mansions, traditional desert dwellings, and charming bungalows.

As early as 1823, Indian Wells had been documented as a thriving Indian village and when gold was discovered on the Colorado River later that century, it would eternally impact the region. William Bradshaw built a trail from Los Angeles through the desert for prospectors who sought fortunes and Indian Wells became an important stop along the way.

Settlers began to trickle into the area and soon the town of Indian Wells began to take shape. True development began in the 1950s as building began on the El Dorado and Indian Wells Country Club & Golf Course. Just years later, Arnold Palmer won the first Bob Hope Desert Classic. The presence of such Hollywood legends as Desi Arnaz, Kirk Douglas, James Garner, and Bob Hope, along with regular visitor President Eisenhower, helped shaped the unique identity of Indian Wells.

Once a flourishing Indian village, Indian Wells is now one of the top tennis and golf destinations in North America. Offering an unmatched desert experience, rich in history and old Hollywood legacy, Indian Wells is a community characterized by its distinctly fine residential living, resort hotels, and endless outdoor adventure.
