JUST SOLD: The Playboy Mansion Sells for a Record $100 Million


The most famous mansion in the world, the Playboy Mansion, has officially closed for $100 million! Purchased by Hugh Hefner’s longtime next-door-neighbor, Daren Metropoulos, the buyer was represented exclusively by Previews® Property Specialist Jade Mills with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Beverly Hills. A landmark sale in itself, according to public records it is the highest price ever paid for a Los Angeles residence.

The 33-year-old principle at private-equity firm Metropoulos & Co. and co-owner of the Hostess Brands, previously purchased Hefner’s 1920s next-door house in 2009 for $18 million and has since restored the property. He intends to connect the two estates, creating a 7.3-acre compound.

Originally purchased in 1971 for $1.05 million, Mr. Hefner’s longtime roughly 20,000-square-foot home has 29 rooms and features every amenity imaginable including a swimming pool with grotto, onsite zoo with exotic birds and monkeys, game house, tennis court, and four-bedroom guesthouse.
