Why Arizona?

To kick off the new and improved Arizona edition of INSIDE OUT, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s lifestyle blog, it seems fitting that the topic be … Arizona. Makes sense, right?  Listing what makes Arizona so special was easy. Not listing EVERYTHING that this amazing state has to offer was tough. So here are, in no particular order, some of the best things about Arizona…

The Grand Canyon

Need we say more? We have one of the Seven Wonders of the World right here. People travel thousands of miles to get a glimpse of this geological marvel carved out millions of years ago by the Colorado River. It’s our greatest treasure.

Sport, Sports, Sports

Not only is Arizona home to 16 MLB teams for Spring Training and the world-famous Waste Management Phoenix Open, but we also have professional teams in pretty much every sport. In recent years we’ve hosted the Super Bowl, Pro Bowl and BCS National Championship.

Arizona ranks #2 in the country for number of golf courses. There are 429 courses to choose from across the state, many of which have made the “best” lists of Golf Digest.

World Class Entertainment

Whether you’re interested in exotic cars, parades or music, there’s something here for you. There are way too many outstanding events and venues to choose from, but these are a great start: Taliesin WestWorld’s Oldest Rodeo, Barrett-Jackson, Country Thunder, Fiesta Bowl, Arabian Horse Show, Havasu Balloon Festival, Talking Stick Resort and Casino , Phoenix Symphony, ASU Gammage.

No, really. Contrary to popular belief, Arizona is not hot all year long. There’s plenty of snow (and skiing!) to be found during winter months throughout the northern parts of the state. Even Phoenix and Tucson have crisp winter nights and spring-like weather a good portion of the year.

Arizona Time

We have our own time zone! How cool is that? Arizona (with the exception of Navajo Reservation) does not participate in Daylight Saving Time. That means no clock changing!

Rest and Relaxation

Amazing day spas can be found all over the state and Scottsdale boasts the most in the country per capita.  If you’re looking to relax, this is THE place.

Yes, water! There are over 100 beautiful lakes in Arizona, including Lake Powell and Lake Havasu, which attract millions of visitors each year.   And let’s not forget about the Colorado River, which runs across the state.

Natural Wonders

We’re not all about the Grand Canyon. Arizona is full of outdoor sights that will take your breath away. Just a few you won’t want to miss:  Antelope Canyon, Montezuma Castle Cliff Dwellings, Meteor Crater, Petrified Forest National Park, Havasu Falls, the Red Rocks of Sedona, Sonoran Desert and Hoover Dam (we share it with Nevada, but still).

The Sun

There’s a reason why our basketball team is named The Suns. Not only are many parts of the state sunny 85-90% of the year, but we also have some of the best sunsets in the world.
